why do medical interviews matter?

Your entire intake depends on this interview.

Prepare with Australia & the UK’s best interview specialists.

almost no one trains for the part that counts as much as your scores.

At UQ the interview is half your ranking. At Monash it counts as much as your ATAR, and at Western Sydney it is 75%. Strong marks get you the interview. They don’t get you through it.

Your UCAT and grades get you invited. At Nottingham and Leeds, the offer is then decided on the interview alone, not your grades or UCAT. A strong UCAT can’t rescue a weak interview.

  • Invaluable coaching with a personalised human-centred approach

…I think that really comes down to the human-centred approach my coach took. It didn’t feel like a set course designed for the masses. Each session felt like I was digging into learning more about myself so I could bring my best qualities out. Not only did that…

  • Highly reccommend

MI Ready was so helpful in preparing me for my postgrad medicine interviews! The lessons were tailored to the universities I was applying to and gave me great structure for my answers, especially for ethics. I really appreciated the personalised feedback and lesson reports, which helped guide my…

  • Huge improvement in just a few sessions

I came to m.i ready quite late in my preparation for my MMIs, so I only had time for a few sessions, but I was amazed at how much I improved in that short time. My tutor quickly identified my strengths and weaknesses and focused each session on…

  • Highly recommend m.i ready!

Highly recommend m.i ready!! I felt very prepared for my interview at UNDS after taking a few sessions. I began quite under confident in my skills and knowledge. But over time, the tutor helped me build my skill set, knowledge and understanding of what each question is assessing…

  • Exceptional programme

…Further than this, I was treated as an individual with considered and specialised feedback in consideration of my strengths and weaknesses. I found this to be exceptionally helpful, paired with expert advice and knowledge of what markers are looking for and how to stand apart from other applicants…

  • Best Tutoring Experience

…The dedication, guidance and thorough resources provided were immensely helpful and I would not have been able to get to level of confidence I had going into my interview without it. Highly grateful and highly recommended.

A two-minute read

A letter from our founder

Dear future doctor,

Smiling medical students and junior doctors in scrubs and white coats walking down a hospital corridor.
Where it all leads.

I’ve wanted to be a doctor since I was six years old, when I first started reading about how the human body works. Today I’m a final-year medical student, and that feeling hasn’t faded. I still love the idea of saving lives, and of helping others to do the same.

But the road here wasn’t straight. The one thing that kept standing between me and medicine was the interview. I sat interview after interview believing I could wing it, and every time I underestimated how much it mattered. It was only when I finally got in that I understood what I had been getting wrong.

I never forgot those lessons. In my little dorm room at medical school, I began passing them on: first to family and friends, then to their friends. That’s also where I met my future wife. She became my biggest motivation, and she helped me see something simple: I didn’t have to wait until I was a doctor to start helping people.

So I took it seriously. I broke the whole interview system down from start to finish: how each university designs its interview, what its selection criteria really reward, how examiners judge warmth, ethics and communication, and where strong candidates quietly lose marks. Then I built it into a structured way of teaching, one skill at a time.

And it worked. One after another, my students were offered their places. To this day, 100% of our students who have received their result have been offered a place in medicine.

Along the way I noticed a gap. There are tutors for the UCAT, for chemistry and for biology, but hardly anyone sits down with a future doctor as a person and shows them how to get through the interview. These are people who want to spend their lives caring for others. They deserve someone in their corner.

That is what m.i ready is built on: love. For people, for the ones I love, and for a future full of kind, caring and dedicated doctors.

Today I’m proud to lead a team of doctors in the making from medical schools across Australia and the UK, many of whom I once helped into medicine myself. Every one of them came to me unsure of what lay ahead, just as you might feel now. They share the same vision I do, and they genuinely care about you, and about the patients you will one day look after.

We’re with you for the whole journey: not just to help you pass your interview, but to help you grow into the doctor, and the person, you want to be. This is the first step to the rest of your life.

Every time a student opens that acceptance letter, it feels as though I have gotten into medicine all over again. I can’t wait to feel that with you.

It starts here. I hope to see you on the wards one day.

Best wishes, with love,

Awais

Before you choose

your career starts here.

Your marks and your test get you to the interview. The interview turns them into an offer.

  1. School marks ATARA-levels, Highers or IB Years of school work.
  2. The test UCAT ANZ or GAMSATUCAT One test, months of prep. Full GAMSAT courses can cost thousands of dollars.
All of this money, time and preparation can go to waste…
  3. The final step The interview. The step that turns your marks into an offer.

It all comes down to this.

The interview can count as much as your marks, or more. At UQ it is half your ranking. At Monash it counts as much as your ATAR, and at Western Sydney it is 75%.

After the interview, it can be the only thing that counts. At Nottingham and Leeds the offer depends on your interview alone, not your grades or UCAT. At Birmingham it is your interview and your UCAT SJT score only.

FAQs.

Is m.i ready right for me?

If you are applying to medicine in Australia or the UK and have an interview ahead, yes. We coach high school graduates applying with UCAT ANZ, graduates applying with GAMSAT, and UK applicants facing an MMI, panel or academic interview. Not sure where you stand? Take the 2-minute quiz.

Who will actually coach me?

A current medical student who has been through a medical school interview and got in. Always one-on-one, never a group class. Meet the interview specialists.

Why not just practice on my own, or with an AI tool?

Practice helps, but people mark your interview. You need a person to tell you honestly how you come across: your pace, your warmth, and the moment you lost the listener. That human feedback is what we are built on.

What do I get after each session?

A written summary: what went well, what to fix, your homework and your updated skill profile. After a mock, you get a full written report and a private debrief. See a sample mock report.
